Xenophon Claims Prestigious Silver Anvil Award

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the world’s largest organization of public relations professionals, recently honored Xenophon Strategies with a Silver Anvil for the Best Public Affairs Campaign of the Year, the PR industry’s “Oscar,” for exemplary work in 2008. The campaign, “Stop Oil Speculation Now,” was executed on behalf of the Air Transport Association, a longstanding agency client, and addressed rampant speculation in the oil futures market which was contributing to increased fuel prices.

“We were thrilled to work on a campaign of such critical importance with one of our longest term clients, the Air Transport Association (ATA), and are honored to be recognized by our public relations peers for the work we have done,” said David A. Fuscus, president and CEO of Xenophon Strategies. “Xenophon’s team is honored by this award, and by the continued trust our clients place in our ideas and execution,” Fuscus said.

The Silver Anvil, according to PRSA, is awarded to organizations which have successfully addressed a contemporary issue with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness. The campaign combined media relations, grassroots advocacy, digital engagement and coalition building to drive over 1.5 million messages to key Congressional audiences. In the first seven weeks of the campaign, the price of oil dropped 35 percent.

Fuscus continued “I’m proud of all the team members who worked on these projects. Our people are some of the best in the industry and they are the ones who generate the ideas that enable us to develop effective strategies and achieve success with our clients.”
