Erica Lawton

In her current role as a Deputy Associate at Xenophon Strategies, Erica Lawton provides communications counsel and support for The Salvation Army in the United States, Williams-Sonoma and MISO, among other clients. Ms. Lawton’s responsibilities include proactive and reactive media relations, traditional and social media analysis, and media trainings. Additionally, Ms. Lawton helps coordinate communications efforts for a variety of Salvation Army initiatives throughout the year, including the Annual Red Kettle Christmas Campaign, and provides crisis communications support for disaster response efforts. Ms. Lawton has worked with journalists and bloggers to successfully place stories in broadcast and online outlets including MSNBC, Fox News, CNN, CNN en Español and others.

Before joining Xenophon in May 2010, Ms. Lawton worked as a public affairs intern at Duffy & Shanley in Providence, Rhode Island and a graduate research assistant at American University.

In May 2009, Ms. Lawton graduated summa cum laude from Bryant University with an Honors B.A. in communication and minors in political science and business administration. In July 2010, she graduated from American University with an M.A. in public communication, and was recognized by the School of Communication with a “Best Graduate Research Paper” Award.
