Culture is an important part of any business, but especially one whose products are ideas and the people to make them real. When Xenophon began in September of 2000, we gave a lot of thought to the culture we wanted to build as we built the business. We wanted a workplace that would foster work at the highest levels of the PR industry, but also somewhere where everyone was valued. We wanted somewhere that was enjoyable to work, but that also solved a problem plaguing most other PR firms --- constant staff turnover.
“The world would be a better place if people just ate more pie.”
As part of building that culture, I wanted to do something personal for the people of Xenophon, to show in a small way that I personally valued everyone at the company. I love to cook and hit upon baking pies every week or two. Over the years, I’ve baked hundreds of pies and if you are in Washington on a Tuesday, stop by for a piece.
As for our culture, today Xenophon Strategies still has our first client, Airbus.
Sometimes, people are curious about the pies, but we don’t really explain --- just answer with one of the world’s fundamental truths:
“The world would be a better place if people just ate more pie.”
