Bio-Med Devices Hires Xenophon Strategies for Communications Support

Xenophon to Assist Leading Medical Tech Firm During COVID-19 Crisis

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Xenophon Strategies has been hired by medical technology company Bio-Med Devices Inc., which manufactures ventilators that can be used to treat COVID-19 patient, to provide communications outreach and support during the novel coronavirus response. Bio-Med is a leading manufacturer of medical instruments for several different practices, including surgical, ophthalmic, and veterinary. A variety of their devices—including ventilators—are currently being used by medical professionals now to combat and care for people during the pandemic.

“Bio-Med Devices is creating important life-saving technology to help doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals in the battle against the coronavirus, COVID-19,” said Xenophon Strategies CEO and President David Fuscus. “We are glad to be able to support Bio-Med with their communications efforts during this very challenging time.”

Xenophon will provide Bio-Med Devices with a wide-range of communications services, including strategic counsel, media relations, social media, and crisis communications support, among other services.

As part of the partnership, Xenophon will work with Bio-Med executives during the pandemic to develop new capabilities to respond to a surge in interest from media and the public for information about the production of ventilators and other medical devices produced by the company.

In addition, Xenophon has partnered with Dr. Davidson Hamer, who will be providing medical expertise to further inform Bio–Med’s communications efforts. Dr. Hamer has more than 30 years of experience in the field, and his skillset will provide additional guidance for Bio-Med’s outreach during COVID-19.

“As we continue to navigate through these challenging times, Bio-Med Devices is hard at work to provide medical professionals with the tools they need to stay safe and to care for their patients,” said Bio-Med Devices President and CEO Dean Bennett. “Partnering with Xenophon Strategies is an extension of our work, and their skills and experience in proactive outreach and communications will help Bio-Med move forward in supporting medical professionals during COVID-19 and beyond.

Xenophon Strategies’ crisis communications work has been employed in some of the largest and most difficult crises for dozens of clients over the past 20 years. Crises include the U.S. airline industry following 9/11, the SARS pandemic, mercury poisoning prevention for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and dozens of major natural disasters for The Salvation Army, including Hurricane Katrina, the Haiti earthquake and Midwest tornadoes.

For coronavirus communications support, Xenophon has prepared a COVID-19 Crisis Response Team that includes Mr. Fuscus and Dr. Davidison Hamer, a board-certified specialist in infectious diseases, and created an COVID-19-specific online resource available at: https://xenophonstrategies.com/covid-19-response.
