Long-Time Clients Expand Scope of Works With Xenophon Strategies for COVID-19 Crisis Communications
Xenophon to Support MISO and Fareportal with Business Continuity and Recovery Planning
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Xenophon Strategies’ long-time clients, Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), and Fareportal, have each expanded their partnerships with the public relations firm to include COVD-19 crisis communications support. MISO provides critical infrastructure for millions of people through its operations of the electric transmission grid for one-third of U.S. Fareportal, with operations in the U.S., Mexico, UK and India, runs CheapOair, the world’s fourth largest on-line travel website.
To assist MISO and Fareportal during the coronavirus pandemic, Xenophon established a COVID-19 Crisis Communications Response Team. The team includes on-staff medical professionals in infectious disease to help clients navigate the challenges created by the virus.
“Xenophon’s COVID-19 Response Team has brought in two medical experts with more than 40 years of work in epidemiology, and their skillset will be important for guiding our clients, MISO and Fareportal, as well as their staff and consumers through these unique times,” said Xenophon President and CEO David Fuscus. “As we move forward together into new territory, one of our major focuses will be to ensure that they each have a plan in place for business continuity and recovery during the pandemic and after it passes.”
Xenophon’s COVID-19 Crisis Communications Response Team will help MISO and Fareportal create business continuity and recovery plans under their respective scope of works. The new scopes now include strategic internal and external communications support and outreach for MISO and Fareportal services for consumers during COVID.
The team will also incorporate medical and health recommendations into the plan by utilizing the expertise of two professors from the Boston University: Dr. Davidson Hamer, a board-certified specialist in infectious diseases and a Professor of Global Health and Medicine at the Boston University School of Public Health, and Dr. Brooke Nichols, a health economist and infectious disease mathematical modeler and Assistant Professor at the Boston University School of Public Health’s Department of Global Health.
“Our COVID-19 Crisis Communications Response Team will play a critical role in establishing a continuity plan that factors in health–related concerns, and an outline for how MISO and Fareportal can best communicate their recovery efforts to key stakeholders, employees and their families, and consumers,” said Mr. Fuscus.
To support MISO, Fareportal and other COVID-19–related clients, Xenophon has prepared a COVID-19 online resource available at: https://xenophonstrategies.com/covid-19-response.
Xenophon Strategies’ crisis communications work has been employed in some of the largest and most difficult crises for dozens of clients over the past 20 year. Crises include the U.S. airline industry following 9/11, the SARS pandemic, mercury poisoning issues for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and dozens of major natural disasters for The Salvation Army, including Hurricane Katrina, the Haiti earthquake and Midwest tornadoes.
