Smith Enters Firm as Senior Associate

Xenophon Strategies welcomes Matt Smith as the firm’s new senior associate. Matt, who brings a wealth of communications experience from Capitol Hill, will be working on several of the firm’s public affairs clients, including NEC Corporation of America and Intoxalock.
“This is an amazing opportunity to join the staff at Xenophon and put my skills to use supporting unique and high-profile clients,” said Matt. “I look forward to jumping right in and working right alongside and learning from my new colleagues.”
Prior to joining Xenophon, Matt worked for Congressman James Comer of Kentucky on Capitol Hill. He served as spokesman and manager of an active communications operation that focused on elevating the Congressman’s message through print and broadcast media, both in Kentucky and nationally.
Matt also served as the Press Intern for Senator Mitch McConnell in 2016 and worked in the Kentucky House of Representatives for over two years before working for Comer.
Matt, who is from Shelbyville, KY, graduated as a Wildcat from the University of Kentucky in 2017. He earned a BA in Journalism, and a Minor in Political Science.
Outside of work, Matt is quite active and spends plenty of time outdoors running, playing soccer, hiking, kayaking and rafting. He has enjoyed rafting on the Gauley River in West Virginia; hiking in the Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia, and the Red River Gorge in Kentucky.
When not working or being active outdoors, he enjoys reading and one of his most recent reads that he recommends is Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power. Matt also enjoys watching Kentucky basketball and football, as well as the Indianapolis Colts.
