Xenophon is thrilled to have Caitlin Cavanaugh on the team!
Xenophon welcomed our fall intern, Caitlin to the office last week. As tradition, employees bombarded her with questions, eager to learn all about the newest addition to the team. Below are a few of Caitlin’s answers.
What are you currently studying & where?
I am currently studying at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, graduating in May with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations with a minor in marketing.
What do you want to do with your degree?
I plan to not only use the skills I have learned inside the classroom at Loyola, but also the valuable professional experiences I plan to acquire here at Xenophon to make an impact wherever I end up. My goal is to put my degree to use for a cause that I am passionate about and that will help make a difference.
What have been the most valuable lessons from your studies at Loyola?
My courses have taught me the importance of ethical communication, especially in our current digital age where information is so easily shared and accessed. I’ve also been taught the value of storytelling – not just conveying information but weaving it into a narrative that resonates with the audience.
I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to my work at Xenophon!
Any hobbies? What do you like to do for fun?
My biggest hobby, one I may have developed a bit too late, is reading. I picked the hobby back up last summer on the beach in Nantucket, MA when I decided I was spending a little too much time on my phone. I gradually skipped from casual beach-reads like Verity by Colleen Hoover and 28 Summers by Ellen Hilderbrand, to books that I could not only enjoy but that I could reflect on. My current book recommendations are A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara and Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton.
What do you hope to learn/gain from this internship?
Throughout my time at Xenophon, I hope to gain valuable knowledge, not only about the public relations industry in general, but through the lens of a firm in the nation’s capital. I hope to build a foundation of professional skills that will be useful throughout my entire career. Being a part of the Xenophon team will allow me to learn, collaborate, and be inspired during my time in DC and the years to come in the public relations field.
