This blog is the first in a series that will focus on some of the most engaging and insightful podcasts within the public relations industry. There are quite a few podcasts out there, each offering their own winning view on communications, trends, hot topics, and more. This series is to help narrow the search and recommend podcasts that Xenophon Strategies finds valuable.

The public relations industry, and traditional and social media in general, are evolving fast. It’s not always easy to keep up with the industry’s happenings, which is why it’s important to learn from others and hear:

  • What they are witnessing within the media and communications landscape,
  • How they are innovating and keeping up with current trends, and
  • How they are overcoming industry challenges.
PRGN Presents is the Public Relations Global Network’s podcast with exclusive
content from PRGN members.

Xenophon recommends the following three podcasts to keep up with industry insights and trends:

  1. Hanson and Hunt: Hosted by Arik Hanson and Kevin Hunt, “Hanson and Hunt” has been around since 2014 and offers industry insights based on some of the latest news within the PR industry. Episodes, which are released once a month and often range between 30 and 60 minutes, have recently seen the two PR pros discuss de-influencing in social media content, the role of ChatGPT, tips for preparing for the recession and making sure to avoid link rot.
  2. For Immediate Release: “For Immediate Release” sees hosts Shel Holtz and Neville Hobson discuss some of the latest news in PR, as well as traditional and social media. With multiple episodes released each month, Holtz and Hobson have discussed Twitter at the hands of Elon Musk, whether every company should have a chief communications officer, and the future of NFTs. Episodes are also relatively quick – about 15 minutes, though some do go longer.
  3. PRGN Presents: “PRGN Presents” was created by the Public Relations Global Network, a connected network of more than 50 hand-selected PR firms from across the globe and is hosted by Abbie Fink and Adrian McIntyre. The show brings a unique take to each podcast by inviting members to speak on various topics. For example, Xenophon Strategies founder and current PRGN President David Fuscus, spoke recently on important trends shaping communications for companies in 2023, specifically ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) programs. Other recent topics have included succession planning, the role of a CEO during a crisis communications response, and how organizations can communicate effectively during challenging times. Each episode is also quick and easy to listen to – about 15 minutes.
