Xenophon Provides Crisis Communication Counsel for MISO During Hurricane Harvey
WASHINGTON, DC – Xenophon Strategies is performing on-going crisis communications counsel to long time energy client, Midcontinent ISO (MISO) in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. MISO operates the transmission grid and energy markets in about 1/3 of the U.S. including in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, the City of New Orleans and Texas.
“We have worked with MISO for over 12 years now and we’ve been helping them prepare for a major hurricane since they began operating in the southern region in 2013,” said David A. Fuscus, Xenophon Strategies’ CEO. “MISO’s team is led by Vice President Todd Hillman and they have worked hard to ensure the electricity grid remains reliable and that all members have the resources needed to operate emergency procedures.”
Xenophon is providing senior-level strategic counsel and support to MISO’s communications team. Among Xenophon’s goals is to implement a steady stream of internal and external communications detailing the current state of operating procedures and ensure all staff and members are apprised of the emergency procedures, Harvey’s path and effects on their region, and MISO’s actions.
“MISO is an organization that believes in planning and training and their hard work at preparing for a hurricane paid off,” Fuscus continued. “Just last June, Xenophon conducted a communications drill for MISO and lessons learned proved valuable during Hurricane Harvey.”
Xenophon has been working with the electric grid operator to develop crisis communications plans to anticipate potential problems and avoid them.
