Business Travelers Trust Airlines During Pandemic

A new survey from the insurance company Chubb, revealed that business travelers have high levels of trust in airlines to keep them safe when flying.

Overall, “Time to Fly: The Impact of COVID-19 on the Present and Future of Business Travel” revealed that 85% of business travelers believe airlines are doing everything they can to keep travel safe for passengers, while 57% said they feel comfortable flying during the pandemic. It’s no surprise as aviation was one of the sectors to respond quickly to the onset of the pandemic and took quick action. Airlines and airports were among the first to take widespread actions. But, also, were vocal in how they communicated with their customers and the public on their efforts to keep flying a safe and healthy experience.

In addition, the Chubb survey found that 77% of participants believe flying during the pandemic is safe if all passengers followed COVID-19 protocols, such as wearing a mask or practicing social distancing.

The survey showed that most business travelers were willing to take the necessary steps to keep themselves safe. Nearly 87% of respondents said they were concerned about contracting the coronavirus and would follow the necessary measures to protect themselves.

Despite the high levels of trust in airlines, and their willingness to follow best practices, business travelers showed concern about other passengers spreading the virus. Nearly 90% of business travelers said this is a worry because their fellow travelers are not responsibly following COVID guidelines when traveling.

Nevertheless, 84% of business travelers said they are eager to return to normal travel again, with 80% stating they have missed business travel.

One unfortunate finding that Chubb found was that about 80% of business travelers–including 43% who strongly agreed– believe another pandemic will occur in the future.

But hopefully not anytime soon – for all our sakes.
